How will we live on the farm in the future? Can the farm be a place for new forms of living and working together? In this workshop, we’ll use wood and nails to build a new generation of farm inhabitants, whilst imagining the future. Kalle Van Gool is the youngest son of Boer Maarten and grew up on the farm in Attenrode. He studied ‘Social and Cultural Work’ in Brussels and then trained as a furniture maker. Together with friends, Kalle organised ‘Club 1030’ in Schaarbeek and gives skate lessons and courses to children. He likes the city but still enjoys coming back to the farm to lend a hand. Kalle has been crafting with wood since he was a child. His ‘little man made of wood and nails’, which he once made in the barn after school, still hangs on the wall in the farmhouse dining room.

In December, Dieter visited the farm for the first time to see what vegetables were growing in the fields and in the greenhouse. For the grand ‘old-meets-new year’ dinner at La Vallée in Brussels, he cooked with celeriac, beetroot, leeks… He pickled and cured, bringing the winter season to the table in Brussels. That left them wanting more. This summer, from 15 July to 9 August, Platine will be hosting a culinary, musical and cultural programme at La Vallée, cooking with organic vegetables from the farm.
